The Gift: The value of Time (Book Review)

“The Gift” is yet another intriguing novel written by Cecelia Ahern. It is an enchanting and thoughtful Christmas story that beautifully elucidates to all of us about the value of time and what is truly important in life. It speaks to your heart and helps you realise the priorities in life.

This man Lou Suffern the protagonist of the story always keeps juggling two things in mind simultaneously. He keeps a constant fight with the clock which creates sensitive issue with his family. Not until Lou invites a homeless man Gabe into his life that his world changes beyond measure.

Gabe makes Lou realise that the later is among the competitive and ambitious people with their eye on the prize instead of the task at hand. “People who wanted to be the best for all the wrong reasons and who’d take almost any path to get to that place”. Gabe explains that paths often become clearer when people stop looking at what everyone else is doing and instead focus on themselves.

“Appreciating your loved ones. Acknowledging all the special people in your life. Concentrating on what’s important” is the clear message given in the book. This book is a heavenly gift that makes you think about the value of life. An emotional and fun filled tale about time, work and love.
